Other Stop Smoking Methods

When it comes to quitting smoking, people will recommend all manner of methods. Unfortunately, the standard “go-to” methods have very low long-term success records, with the people who use them frequently finding themselves falling back into old habits, sooner rather than later. Here is an examination of some of those methods and why my hypnotherapy for smoking in Chester, Liverpool and Colwyn Bay is a superior alternative.

Will Power

Also called going “cold turkey”, this means that you completely cease the ingestion of nicotine in all its forms. This is a difficult way to stop smoking, as smokers crave nicotine, both physically and psychologically. Shaking, nicotine craving, extreme mood swings, and an urge to eat are all symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. It’s important to note that smokers that take this route are more likely to relapse and decide to ‘reward’ themselves with a cigarette. Resist the temptation, as this sets the whole process back at square one. This approach will work for strong-willed smokers. However, most are made from less resilient stuff – if you think that you won’t be able to make it ‘cold turkey’, try a different approach. This generally has a success rate of between 5-6%.

NRT

Nicotine replacement therapy (gum, patches, inhalers, sprays and lozenges, etc.) has been proven, through independent scientific studies, to produce a success rate of 10-13%. Not only is it quite rare for someone to stop smoking using this method, but there are many negative side effects, such as: nausea, indigestion, itching and redness of the skin and nightmares. Occasionally, the side effects can be more serious, so there is very little chance of it working and a chance of physical harm. Our method is completely safe and WORKS, which is why I offer a 12-month guarantee.

Zyban

NHS reports have shown that Zyban is completely ineffective unless combined with other psychological treatments (for example; hypnosis). There has already been one widely-reported death from this drug this year and GlaxoSmithKline, who produce it, have stated that 1 in 1000 will suffer convulsions that could lead to death. Our method is completely safe, and WORKS, which is why I offer a 12-month guarantee.

Alan Carr

Alan Carr uses group hypnosis for half an hour at the end of a 4-hour lecture. Group hypnosis has been tested, yielding a 30% success rate. The reason why he can only get such a low success rate is because the program uses a very basic form of “suggestion-only” hypnosis, which cannot be tailored in a group situation for your own individual needs. The program does offer a 3-month guarantee, but there are so many conditions to it that very few people ever qualify to use it. We offer a free follow-up session, available for 12 months after your first session, should, in the unlikely event, it be required.
